People often ask where we find our featured artists. The truth is we source the electroacoustic acts in all sorts of different ways- some are good friends, others we know from gigs we played with them a year or more ago and others come on recommendation.

Increasingly, however, we select acts to perform as featured artists as a result of them impressing during the open mic or as a result of them sending us a demo CD throught the post or an email with music files or a link to a website with downloads. We prefer to see the acts play live but, of course, this is rarely possible for those who live outside of London or the UK.

We like to make the entertainment on offer as diverse as possible and so, while we welcome singer/songwriter/
guitarists, we do our best to find and encourage other more unusual instruments, styles, deliveries and interpretations. To date, for example, we have featured TROMBONE POETRY, a wildly entertaining combination of spoken word beat poetry and solo jazz standards, MOAN RED, the one-man rock show and MIRROR MIRROR a gothic/psychedelic guitar, violin and harmonies 3-piece.

THE FEATURED ARTISTS
THE PHILOSOPHY
THE VENUES

From WALRUS to LAMB to BEAR to LARK......
The electroacoustic club is most at home in the secret, unusual and intimate venues that few people have heard of, or which might not have previously made a name for themselves as music venues before.

Things started out upstairs at the Walrus Social in Waterloo
in March 2004. The venue, famous and infamous in equal measure for it's kitsch wallpaper, pink neon stage lights and disco ball, was an instant hit with performers and audience. Once you'd left the inane All-bar-one-ness of the main bar and ascended the staircase at the back it was a bit like stepping into another world - a twilight zone caught between the ornate, the funky and the classical.

Alas, we decided to leave the Walrus on a high and, after ramming the place with a wall-to-floor-to-ceiling crowd one sweaty October evening, we decided
to move through the food chain to the Slaughtered Lamb.

After circumnavigating the circle and district lines, we turned off Clerkenwell Road into Great Street and were drawn helplessly into the
drinking hole that is the the Slaughtered Lamb.

In March 2005
, a year after the club's conception, and after the final live recording session for the running jump records compilation album, 'live at the electroacoustic club VOLUME ONE,' we crossed Clerkenwell Road and found the most hospitable BEAR on St Johns Square, where we remained until returning to the LAMB in July 2005.

Since June 2005, we have also headed north towards the Angel and made THE LARK in the park, our second current venue and home to the weekly electroacoustic sessions
every Tuesday night.

The electroacoustic club is all about presenting live performances of original and diverse music, and other artforms, to an open-minded and receptive audience, in an intimate and conducive setting.

It's about
trying to do things a little differently to the standard 'acoustic night' format; about finding the cosiest, most distinctive and intriguing venues you never knew existed, with the kitschest, comfiest seating and moodiest lighting to create a unique atmosphere for performers and punters alike.

It's about giving the most
diverse artists and performers the opportiunity to perform, interact and collaborate; for new acts to gain experience on the open mic and get the chance to play alongside more established acts; for the more seasoned performers to experience something fresh and unique and hopefully pick up some new devotees in the process.

Of course, it's just as much about the people who come to watch and listen: the punters, the crowd, the audience. Whether you come to support performers you know, artists you've seen before or have heard about, whether you love to hear new, original music and have heard good or strange things about this curious thing, the electroacoustic club, or even if it's out of plain, random curiosity after reading something in the entertainment listings, we hope you take a new experience away with you and will tell us about it.

Ultimately, the electroacoustic club is about being good, passionate, credible promoters, putting on a good show, full of talent, passion, emotion, intensity, eccentricity, humour, full of surprises, and continuing to push the boundaries, shatter preconceptions and exceed expectations.
